Type A Blade
Lamella Tip

In 1977 Benton Graphics developed a proprietary reduction process to manufacture lamella tipped blades without grinding. Grinding carbon steel can cause burning and hardening of the metal. This can cause the lamella edge to become brittle and fail. This failure can potentially damage the cylinder or Anilox roll. The chemical reduction process does not alter the properties of the steel and virtually eliminated the breakouts. We remain the only blade manufacturer to offer a non-ground lamella edged blade. The width of the lamella is typically .095" (2.4mm). This provides maximum flexibility. Tip thickness is custom engineered to your application.
Advantages:
- Premium Gravure blade
- Tip wipes immediately and changes very little during the life of the blade
- Slightly tapered design adds strength to the blade
- Almost double the amount of useful area compared to other lamella blades
- Maximum flexibility
- Works extremely well with high quality work, extended runs, and vignettes

Note:
- Please note that a chemical reduction process does not produce the plastic lamella. This style blade is most effective when used in Sun or Grant chambers.
Although GET is available with the Type-A edge, lengths over 20” require the blade to be sold in the Type-F bonded form
