Flipcheck ™

Description

Whether you are a gravure or flexo printer, the Flipcheck™ Goniometer, can help you with set ups and troubleshooting. The unit was designed to be simple to operate, easy to read, and inexpensive to purchase. Flipchecks™ are made of injection molded solvent resistant plastic. They have a magnetic strip that holds the blade sample securely, and a real glass 10x-magnifying lens to visually check the angle of a used sample blade. The unit is 3.5" long, 2.125" wide, .75 " thick and weighs less than 2 ounces.

Why use a FLIPCHECK™ Goniometer?

The flipcheck was designed to be quick and easy to use. Checking the angles on a few used blades a week will help you benchmark your process, identify blade wear issues, and save you money by cutting loses in ink, substrate material, and wasted time.

We recommend taking a sample from each end of the used blade and one piece from the middle. Mark them as you cut them. Samples should be no longer than 1.5 inches. Put them on the magnetic strip so the wear angle is facing up. Look through the lens and rotate the bottom of the unit until you see the brightest reflection off the tip of your blade.

Turn the unit so you can see the scale on the side without moving the bottom and read the angle, big lines are 10 degrees and small lines are 5 degrees, just add them from the "0" mark. Do this with each of your 3 pieces. Your angles should be within + or -5 degrees.

If you find differences from end to end your clamp or chamber could be misaligned to your cylinder or roll or the blade might have been set incorrectly at start up. If your angles are more than 5 degrees from your ends to the middle you could be having camber issues with the blade itself. If you find your angles are excessively low, the blade is being over pressured and it will wear out faster then it should. Any of these problems directly affects your bottom line. Feel free to contact our tech support department for blade recommendations or questions about the Flipcheck™.
